In 1985, when I studied photography at the college level, the challenge of portraiture was one of the most exciting for me. As instuctors taught the "guidelines" of portraiture, I imagined it to be a playing field where you could do anything you wanted, as long as it fell within the "lines". I went back to the Renaissance paintings I viewed in Humanities class and began to study composition, lighting and posing. It was there I learned about creating a photograph that was not contrived. I love working with people and one of the most rewarding experiences I have as a photographer is using my God given talents to help my clients cherish their lives for years to come.
